South America brings something different to our production network. Rich natural resources, exceptional fibres and generations of textile knowledge create opportunities that are difficult to replicate elsewhere.
Our network here is deliberately focused. Rather than looking for large-scale general garment production, we work with specialised partners and supply chains where the origin of the material, technical knowledge and craftsmanship are an essential part of the product.
PERU
Peru is all about exceptional natural fibres. Home to some of the world’s finest Pima cotton and alpaca, it offers something that cannot simply be reproduced in another production country: the raw material, the knowledge and the craftsmanship all originate in the same place.
Peruvian Pima cotton is known for its exceptionally long, fine fibres, creating yarns that are smooth, soft and strong. This makes it particularly interesting for premium jersey, T-shirts, polos and other products where the quality of the fabric needs to be felt immediately.
And then there is alpaca. Native to the high Andes, alpaca produces an incredibly soft, warm and lightweight fibre. From fine baby alpaca to different blends and yarn constructions, it opens up possibilities for premium knitwear, sweaters, cardigans and accessories with a completely different character from conventional wool.
What makes Peru especially interesting to us is the knowledge surrounding these fibres. The supply chain can bring together fibre, spinning, knitting, dyeing and garment manufacturing, allowing us to look beyond simply where a product is made and understand where the material itself comes from.
For Men of Orange, Peru is therefore not about moving general garment production to another country. It is about going to the source. Working with exceptional fibres, specialised manufacturers and generations of textile knowledge to create products where the material itself makes the difference.
